The first one was a serious love story that is very funny. Henry Fonda suffers through more pratfalls than you will ever see in modern movies. 

The second one was a complete farce, another version of dumb and dumber and stupid-funny from start to finish. Boring in places, but Penelope Cruz is stunning throughout.
